The World of Jazz takes students on a musical journey through America and abroad. Created by bassist Rob Thorsen and pianist Danny Green, and drummer Richard Sellers, this presentation is a fun and inspiring way for students to learn about jazz music. Students are introduced to the basic elements of music such as melody, harmony, and rhythm, as well as more jazz-specific concepts such as call and response, and improvisation. The presentation includes several performances of famous jazz compositions, an in depth look at the instruments, and a look at some of the pioneers of jazz. We will host 2 sessions: UTK-2nd and 3rd- 5th.
